St John's College

St John's Sixth Form is proud to announce the 2025 examination results, which reflect not only strong academic performance across the Cambridge International programme but also the character and resilience of a remarkable cohort of young men and women.

In a year shaped by sustained pressure and competing commitments, the Class of 2025 demonstrated what it means to approach scholarship with quiet determination and purpose. Their results speak to disciplined preparation and a genuine commitment to growth rather than simply to outcomes.

“This group did not chase marks alone,” said Paul Emant, Head of Sixth Form. “They pursued understanding. They were intellectually curious. They learnt how to manage challenges, how to support one another, and how to persist when the work became difficult. These results are the natural consequence of that mindset.”

Across both the Cambridge AS and A Level pathways, students achieved consistently high standards, with notable performances at the top end of the spectrum and strong overall distributions. The A Level candidates achieved 33% A* and A symbols, while the AS Level candidates achieved 24% ‘a’ symbols. This reflects the students’ commitment to academic excellence. More significantly, many students showed marked improvement over time—an indicator of maturity, reflective learning, and effective academic support structures.

The results also affirm the Sixth Form’s holistic approach to education. Beyond rigorous academic preparation, the Sixth Form experience emphasises leadership development, service, cultural life, and character formation. Throughout 2025, students balanced examination preparation with leadership portfolios, College commitments, community initiatives, and creative pursuits—emerging not only as successful candidates but also as thoughtful, engaged young adults.

Two candidates embarked on the Cambridge International Project Qualification (CIPQ), and both Vlad Korzh and Isobel Buchan achieved A* symbols in recognition of their research projects.

“We measure success in more than symbols and statistics,” Mr Emant added. “We look at who these young men and women have become: principled, reflective, and ready to contribute meaningfully to the world beyond our gates.”

The Sixth Form acknowledges the exceptional dedication of its teaching staff, tutors, boarding staff, and support teams, whose commitment to each student’s journey has been central to these outcomes. Gratitude is also extended to parents and guardians for their partnership and trust throughout the Sixth Form years.

"As the Class of 2025 embarks on their next journey, whether to universities here at home or abroad, we celebrate not just their exam results, but who they've become," said Dale Jackson, Executive Headmaster. "They leave us with integrity and a clear sense of purpose. That's what matters most."
