Mrs Joyanne West delivered the keynote address at the inaugural St John’s Sixth Form Women’s Day Celebration Service in the Memorial Chapel, where she celebrated the enduring strength, resilience, and unity of women and paid tribute to the pioneering women who led the fight for freedom and equality in South Africa.

Jayden Hoskins (LV Hill) is on his way to North Berwick, Scotland as the only junior golfer from South Africa to be awarded a scholarship to the Congaree Global Golf Initiative (CGGI) Golf Clinic, which will take place at Archerfield Links from 4 to 6 August.
The walkway past the “Boy with the Eagle” came alive with the thundering footsteps and spirited cheers of the annual College Dash. Traditionally held on the eve of Gaudy Day, this year's event circled the Deane Yates and Alan Wilcock Vulindlela buildings in a thrilling one-lap race. Each of the nine Houses sent forth its bravest sprinter to compete in this time-honoured event.
Over the half-term break, Motshwane Pege, orchestral percussion and marimba band teacher, travelled to Germany to attend the world premiere of his double choir work, Angele Dei (transl.: Angel of God), winning second prize in Category A of the prestigious 20th Musica Sacra Nova Composer’s Competition.
In celebration of Mandela Day and 30 Years of Democracy, St John’s College embraced the theme, "Combating poverty and inequality is in our hands".This special day highlights our shared responsibility to support our community and work towards a more equitable society.
The community of St John’s College will be saddened to hear of the passing of an exemplary Johannian, Adrian Walton, who was Head of School in 1984. Adrian succumbed to his battle with cancer at a relatively early age on 3 July 2024. He was 57 years old.

The De Souza-Young Arts Fest, conceptualised by Joy de Souza and Wendy Young, held every two years, was originally envisioned as a day to celebrate the arts and encourage students to sign up for workshops and immerse themselves in new and creative activities. Today it is a day for students to pause and enthusiastically engage in something quite different.
